Swiss-Japanese fashion designer Kazu Huggler, known for her custom couture collection and her original prints in her ready-to-wear line announces this year’s Spring/Summer Collection IKI 粋 – ‘chic’ – dominated by newly interpreted wrap dresses, unique pieces made in refined prints of vintage kimono fabrics and inkjet silks by Kazu’s long-time partner Fabric Frontline. IKI's caressing candy palette is been inspired by the moods of fabric patterns of the Taisho-period (20's) in Japan - where florals and geometric patterpeach and powder shades refreshingly dominate. Driven by Japanese aesthetics and Swiss quality, Kazu's creations reflect a wearable symbiosis of both cultures. Her IKI collection, completely made locally in Switzerland depicts an elegant femininity for practical wear – from this season's finely embroidered reversible jackets to colorful bolero jackets. Sterling silver bags and high-end accessories also accompany the entire KAZU line. Since last March, following the tsunami, the fashion designer has been strongly engaged in development aid in Japan. Kazu's reaction to the event resulted in donating the proceeds from sale of her high-end silver bags which has already made an impact in the north of Japan. Her immediate plans include another trip to the North where she will hold a number of events including a workshop with high-school teenagers in hopes of helping them regain their creativity.
